Moonshot Saga: Editing and Publishing on Amazon

After finally finishing the first completed full draft of the Moonshot Saga, I was ecstatic. I had worked over seven to eight months planning and writing the story and had finally finished it. However, I did not expect the amount of time and effort editing would have on the entire process. At the very end of the process when I released my book on Amazon, I truly believed that editing and revising the story was the most difficult part of writing my novel.

First, I moved my final draft to a new document separate for editing. Then, I would be able to see my own edits compared to the original version. Although I began reading over my story passionately at first, I quickly realized how many mistakes and plot holes there were. Even though I had planned out the entire story before writing, there were many parts especially in the beginning of the novel that didn’t make sense and were not explained clearly. To a first time reader, they would have been completely lost on what was happening at all. Many of the concepts and technology I was introducing in my story were not properly explained as well.

One aspect of the novel, The Moonshot Saga: Earthbound, was the implementation of AI Art.

I loved being able to bring new images that would other be difficult to explain through words. Over the course of the entire novel writing process, I created over 300+ images for the story. Although the technology of AI Art is extremely advanced, there were some difficulties. There were many times where the AI would not create the correct image required, and needed many different prompt variations in order to work.

Finally, one of the most difficult parts of completing the story was the actual publishing process through Amazon. Although Amazon KDP is an incredible source for authors, there were difficulties in formatting page numbers, book cover formatting, and uploading pdf’s as well. However, an important lesson that I learned was the value of going back to reread my story over and over again to produce the best work I could do.
